The town home’s dirt crawlspace is permeating the earth’s moisture and radon into the floor joists and living space above. The porous concrete walls allow both water and cold into the existing space.
This crawlspace left untreated is an ideal environment for mold species to grow on the wood floor joists. The Homeowner’s main concerns are wasted energy, mold growth, and unusable space.
First any debris and organic materials are removed from the crawlspace dirt floor. This prevents a habitat for mold growth. Next, the drainage matting is installed. To address the homeowners goal of energy efficiency the team then added the insulation above the drainage matting. This R-4 rated covering provides both additional protection from the cold earth as well as a cushion on the knees when the homeowner uses the space for storage. The walls and rim joists are then covered in the ExTremeBloc R-11 rated insulation which has tiny graphite particles infused into the foam. ExTremeBloc boasts a radiant barrier which reflects heat back into the crawlspace for ultimate energy savings. The final step was to install the CrawlSeal Liner which has the Ultra Fresh anti-microbial infused directly into the liner to prevent mold growth. The CrawlSeal is then ram set into the ExTremeBloc which totally encapsulates the entire space. Each product installed is inorganic and will not allow mold growth.
